The OggaDoon team love running. We also love a good night out, so Nike’s running track/night club is right up our street.
The Unlimited Stadium in Manila is the world’s only LED running track. Taking the form of a figure eight based on Nike’s LunarEpic shoe – or an infinity loop, depending on your take on cardio – it challenges runners to compete against a virtual version of themselves.
The pop-up 200m track takes up an entire city block and is the largest of its kind. Up to 30 runners can use the track at one time, where a sensor attached to your shoe creates an LED avatar that races you, growing larger the faster you run.
Akane from Birdman Tokyo, the tech production team behind the Unlimited Stadium, explained, “Hyper accurate RFID (Radio-frequency identification) tracks your first lap time. On the next lap, your avatar appears, running your previous time. Beat it, and it runs your new best time — challenging you to keep bettering your best.”
Anyone fancy a trip to the Philippines?
