Challenges
Digital channels
The digital channels including the website and social media channels were not optimised for a live crowdfund EG is a LARGE call to action to invest or links driving people to the crowdfunding pages. Key pages were also missing from the website: Crowdfund news count down, about the team, about the project.
Crowdfunding platform
More engagement was needed on the platform. This included a recommendation to encourage more tagging and sharing on social. News coverage needed to be shared as updates to fans and backers. More engagement was needed on social channels with backers with more incentives for backers to share.
Rewards
We suggested additional rewards that provided more options from both a B2B and B2C perspective. Businesses have more available spending than consumers. We also suggested more experiential and group rewards such as family passes and launch event experiences.
Socials
There was low engagement on some of the social channels. However, there were no launch graphics on any of the social channels, no evidence of paid promotion and no strong CTA pinned to the top (INVEST NOW).
PR
The PR element of the mix could be strengthened. There were no individual content pieces covering the different key messages in launch PR, save a local landmark, or topical graffiti to create news (other hooks). The client had secured press coverage in the digital and radio media, however, this had not been shared and tagged across channels to increase reach.
Strategy
OggaDoon made recommendations for each of the digital platforms that could be implemented quickly across all channels, during the raise period. We also expressed the importance of fitting with the crowdfunding algorithms, specifically reaching 40%, to boost awareness of the raise to serial investors.
We also advised on creating noise around the project by creating murals with topical significance in the press. They created one of a mural of the Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi who is believed to be under house arrest after competing in South Korea without a headscarf in protest at the recent death of Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by Iran’s notorious morality police.
This attracted further attention from the press and to the crowdfund.
We look forward to collaborating once the Boatyard builders are ready to launch.
