Objective

To accelerate event comms for CoInnovate and gain impact on social media during the CoInnovate 2018 conference through a targeted content strategy focused on social media marketing for events. It involved live tweeting throughout the day, and more.

Results

Delegates’ numbers surpassed internal goals by 160%. Also, CoInnovate’s event hashtag trended in Cardiff throughout the day, with ten pieces of the press covering the event. Positive feedback was received by speakers for their spotlight vox pops, increasing website and Twitter metrics to more than 193% month on month.

Challenges

CoInnovate has a targeted remit: to bring together academics, start-ups, and large manufacturers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of cutting-edge technology to solve tomorrow’s problems. This meant that we had to speak in highly technical language to engage our audience in content, on social, and when speaking to the press.

 

Strategy

We ensured that key messages in our social media marketing for events strategy were finely tuned to our audience. This involved crafting plenty of content in the lead-up to the event, and ensuring that it all spoke directly to their pain points and interests. Press releases were crafted, honed, and sold to the press in the weeks and days before the event. And we offered consulting advice on how to leverage LinkedIn for business, and improving website structure. On the day, two members of our team attended to live tweet and post highlights on LinkedIn. We also filmed vox pops with speakers, engaged live with conversations happening online, and drove further impact digitally by liaising with the press at the event.
