Guerrilla marketing and why it matters more than ever

Our founder, Caroline Macdonald, has recently featured in an article for Clarityy, discussing guerrilla marketing and why it matters now more than ever. 

You don’t need big budgets or traditional marketing techniques, you need to think big. Bold actions, visuals and appearing in unexpected places are great ways to reach your audiences. It’s about engaging people with your brand, rather than going for the hard sell. 

Caroline discussed the five things you need to consider. 

Tip 1: Plan

Ask yourself: “why should my customers care about my brand and what am I aiming to achieve?” Understanding your audience and what makes them tick is the key to a campaign’s success. 

Tip 2: Create

Next is being creative. In a crowded market, what can you do to differentiate yourself from the competition? Don’t be afraid to think outside the box as this is when you’ll see results. 

Tip 3: Be consistent

Once you have your differentiator, make sure you’re consistent with this messaging as this will help your brand to appear authentic. Jay Conrad Levinson, who coined the term guerrilla marketing, said, “Change your offers and headlines and even your prices, but do not change your identity.” 

Tip 4: Tell your story

You need to find the story of your brand. Everyone has one, it’s just how you tell it. Create impact through your words and messaging to create a human connection. It’s all about finding ways to resonate with your audience. 

Tip 5: Be pervasive

Finally, and most importantly, be pervasive. Focus on getting your brand out there and find ways of building a community between yourself and your customers.
