From many uses that can be exploited, such as AI generated products being sold, replacing screenwriters, and using AI to cheat in exams, where there’s excitement there’s fear.
AI has been a gamechanger and is already being implemented in to healthcare, science, education, and many other incredible applications. However, there is the counter side to AI which is that there is no regulation, so it can grow out of control and be used negatively. This month, tech leaders met to discuss the future of AI and the regulations that need to be put in to place. Discussion is expected to continue for quite some time in order to fully understand the tech and not stunt its growth too much, but also to stay ahead of the risks and implement regulations in a timely manor.
The technology is so incredible that even its developers and those pioneering the AI landscape are pushing for regulations. So, nearly one year on from the public launch of ChatGPT, AI is taking a step in the right direction in terms of regulation. Many countries have taken early steps to set out their own regulation before industry wide regulations have been agreed upon.
